Our latest Pinot Noir release is an elegant wine, reflecting the excellent growing conditions in Pemberton in 2008 with a mild summer and dry harvest period. This wine was made from fruit harvested from 11 year old vines. The grapes cold soaked for 24 hours then brought to ambient temperature and placed in small open fermenters and hand plunged 4 times a day for 10 days. We used old and new French Oak barrels, with minimal filtration to maintain the structure and mouth feel of the wine.
This lovely medium bodied wine is garnet red in colour with raspberries and cherries dominant on the nose with hints of tea rose, cedar and nutmeg. On the palate the rich ripe red berry fruit flavours well balanced with good fruit intensity complimented by soft tannins with savoury notes.
Pinot is definitely a food wine and we suggest partnering with such things as roasted meats and tomato based dishes.
