The Vineyard
The Vineyard was commenced in 1997. Site selection was important and we settled on the beautiful rolling hills of the Middlesex Valley with its ironstone gravels, cool to temperate Mediterranean climate. The vineyard offers northerly and southerly facing slopes that provide excellent drainage.
The climate of this region with is heavy winter rains and warm Summer days with cool nights allows the grapes to develop excellent flavours and a natural acid balance.
The first variety we planted was Pinot Noir and we have since planted Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Tempranillo. We took great care in planting each variety on sites that offer individual microclimates for that variety that will eble the vines to optimise on the fruit characteristics of their respective varieties.
Our philosophy is that great wine is made in the Vineyard and our chosen site is already providing some excellent results. We are continually striving to improve our quality with judicious use of organic principles such as a reduction in chemical inputs and the introduction of Guinea fowls and chickens as pest control.
